In 2001 I got invited on a Habitat for Humanity international house building trip to Porto Portugal. We flew in to Lisbon and immediately caught a train to Porto where we worked on final stages of a 2 4-plex buildings (slapped up dry wall, taped, spackled, did landscaping, etc) for 2 weeks before returning to Lisbon where the international team (17 countries were represented) were given a tour of Lisbon (the old and new parts), taken to a traditional "fado" (the portuguese blues and fabulous seafood), and then I traveled for another week around the region. The people were so gracious and inviting (altho quite short --- probably the average person is about 5 ft tall!) and I now have memories that will last a life time!
