Telluride is pricey but the mix of skiing and small town activities and sophistication and country is definitely unique.
The wine shop there had the best recommendations for us and I've never been able to find that wine again anywhere.
The skiing suits everyone. My boyfriend was just learning so he stayed on the long long green trails and we gawked at all the multi-million dollar houses. I love the 'old' side with super steep trails where ski right into town. Even if I spent a large part of the day teaching I could still take one last run from the gondola down to town and feel like I got a little "real" skiing in that day.
